The Disks of Orichalcum

Overview

The Disk is a form of transport that functions only on the Continent Island of Atlas. These disks are also known as Atlantids, a name which they share with the Golems that hold up parts of temples and buildings around the continent. It is said that the disks hold up the commerce of the continent just as the Atlantid statues hold up the physical buildings. The Atlantids float over any solid ground - allowing them to move over rough ground or foliage easily - and hence the need for roads is largely undone through this technology. However, more burdensome carrying that the disks cannot manage - is being managed by some wheeled vehicles pulled by horses. However, these are largely rare.

Range and Limitations

An Orichalcum disk will float indefinitely off the surface of the land it hovers over as long as it remains on the Continent of Atlantis. Islands outside the continent and ships will prevent it from working. Bridges in Atlantis guarded by Seahorse Icons have been shown to allow the disks to still function whilst going over the bridge. It will not function on water. The disk sinks in water and must be thoroughly dried if it was immersed in salt water to prevent the disenchantment/de consecration of the metal. Therefore rainy days, and snow are largely disliked by disk owners - however they will function in such areas.
