The Purpose is a mystery, but it has partly been uncovered as it has been analysed by Sages down through the ages. Some conjecture the document was created as an Oracle, others present it as a Divine Encourager that encourages the thought processes of the races to improve their mental ability. Others state it is linked to the origins of Alchemical Magic.

The 429 Emerald Tablet is a mystery document. The meter of this document was written in Tetraktys form, (increasing by one syllable for every line). Showing a link to the Earlier Age of Talos, but differs greatly. It also contains a Septaktrys, Heptaktrys, and Nonaktrys Formats, before returning to a standard Teraktys form of text).
Each section outlines a part of a riddle - the answer as to exactly what it is referring to is still being assessed by Sages. The sections appear to allude to an over-reaching power that will one day dominate everything.

The Gods Apollo and Artemis are specifically stated in the text of the Tablet, and Hermes is implied in the title of the tablet.

This is a secret text held in the Library and said to be linked to the art and science of Alchemy in some way, but by others is considered an ancient Oracle of times to come.
Historical Details
Background
The Tablet is said to have been found near the mountains of Kharazad Plateau, however, other accounts state that it comes from the far east where Hermes was said to have held sway for centuries. It has long been studied by the Alchemists and Sages of Atlantis as a source of power over matter, but this is specualtion on the part of the general population who know of it, but not it's actual content.
Public Reaction
The general public know only of the tablet. Some assume it to be an actual emerald, others know it to be an unknown material of green hue, but all state that it was a sign of Atlantis's greatness that the Kingdoms would be the ones to hold it in their library.
It was said to have been found in the late 200 CY era at a time when the KIngdoms were uncertain in their position - the tablet is said to have verified to the King at the time that the Atlanteans would rise to rule over the whole world.

This is now a treasured relic - considered to be an oracle by some with regards to the destiny that Atlantis has ahead of itself if it holds to the truth of its lineage from Poseidon's bloodline. Many interpretations have been made of the document. Some of the more interesting include the Numerological study of the Tablet conducted by the Sage Aristogares.
He noted that the piece starts with 4 syllable forms and ends with 4 syllable forms - but if they are summed up then it is 44 syllables - making Double 4 a key component of the text.
