Personal history

Early Life

During his adolescence, due to his fathers importance and friendship with Emperor Julius, Armand matured into the close friend-group between himself, Doughtaticus Dragorlan, and Valdar Ragnarsson which would define all three of their lives in the future. Just like his two other closest friend, Armand was extremely friendly with Alanya Seeciro when her father the Archduke of the Faar Isle visited. However, this friendship between Alanya and Armand grew into much more as they became each other's first loves while they discovered themselves.

A Knight of the Realms

Not seeing any opportunities to fulfil his aspirations of power being the next in line to a minor piece of Mordwynn land, Armand hired a galley to the continent of Sanaros win himself a life of adventure and wealth. Acting under a myriad of banners, de Montague sculpted quite the reputation for himself, acting as a Knight-for-Hire for the highest bidder across the entire Myconthren Coast. From warlords and pirates, to churches and kings, de Montague would did not show loyalty to anything but coin, which he earn a banks worth.
With this, he learned of many forms of cultures and aspects of war in a completely exotic environment. He was also enlightened on the varying interpretations of power of individuals in society, where he drew relation to his childhood experiences in the company of other noble children such as the current Emperor and Empress and how he would only ever be a minor noble. This was until he hired contacts throughout the GWE's capital city and devised a plan for his new aspirations of power.

Return to the Empire

On his return to the Great Western Empire, Armand placed himself back into the company of his childhood friend, Doughtaticus Dragorlan. On top of previous history between the two, de Montague brought influence, money and wild tales - all things which occupied the grieving Emperor away from the death of his First Minister. As time passed by, he infiltrated and manipulated Doughtaticus into appointing him one of the most powerful positions in the Empire, the First Minister.

Motivation

Desires the power he would never normally gain in his stature. Jealous of his childhood, when he and Doughtaticus were equals. Now Armand must bow down to the Emperor's incompetence while he lives a life with the woman he once loved.

Wealth & Financial state

After spending his youth under many banners in Sanaros, de Montague earned significant wealth as a glorified mercenary and bodyguard, earning the trusts of wealthy traders, pirates and warlords, including the Emperor's exiled uncle Octavian Dragorlan. This wealth allowed Armand to return to the GWE and to the Emperor's side with a vast array of spies, contacts and resources that constantly further his plots and deception. On top of this, the title of First Minister comes with its own hefty salary, meaning the de Montague coffers are possibly the most powerful in the Empire, even more than the royal coffers.
