Catastropium Lantern
There are Valonian, or those in R.R.A. especially, has figured out how to use the self-illumination ability of Catastropium to the greater use other than weapons. It's the most common use for everyone, and it can change the way of Valonian life as a whole...
Lanterns
A refined shard of Catastropium is hanging in the middle of the sturdy, metal case with glass walls and a wooden handle. The spring mechanism help reduce the shaking, even though the crystal is already hardened and tough enough to resist direct hits. Since the crystal is constantly illuminating, the case contains retractable doors so it can be turned on and off.
You can make it brighter by put it on a direct fire. The crystal absorb the flame/heat and convert into light. The brightness can be from soft for reading to the literal fire which sometime so strong it can blind you. It turn out that the light from the sun can charge it also, but with slower rate. The light can depleted overtime but it won't extinguish completely no matter what.
Manufacturing process
It's designed by R.R.A. and manufactured by Ferrum Faber. The lantern has two designs: static and portable. The static lanterns are made of a strong, naturally bright plum-size crystals, which are used in lightposts across the roads. It take public servents to operate it by change them manually which is rarely. The portable one is small and only has a crystal the size of thumb. They're inspired by the largest lantern they've ever made, The Eternal Star.
To acquire it you must be the wealthy. One portable lantern can cost up to 200 Sart, and a static lantern isn't available to the public as it's only be used by the government. Right now the only place with such magnificent nightlight system is Valone. Also, the source of the crystals is classified and only handful of people can order it in quantities.
Sounds so pretty. I love lanterns. :)
