Mirimae
Goddess of the Sun - Greater Deity
Since the dawn of time, people of all races have been fascinated by the little red ball in the sky that they aptly called The Sun. They marveled at it's mystery, and oft wondered what magical properties it held. When it would disappear for days at a time and the lands were enveloped in darkness, the people would become scared and pray for it's return. They came to learn that the sun was an integral part of their way of life, in keeping them warm, in nurturing their crops, and as a protection from the cold. The sun was a tiny red ball in the sky that was one of the most vital parts of everyday life. It followed, then, that it must be an other-worldly creation controlled by a mistress of the heavens; some conjuration of celestial energy that was brought in to existence by Alma the Creator. The name Mirimae comes from the Old Common word Mir, which means sun. The name was modernized many years later to embody the namesake of a very beautiful woman, someone who would symbolize purity, beauty, and perfection - words used to describe the almost flawless, spherical appearance of the sun.
