Echophone

Historical Equivalent: Gramophone   Eletech Category: Public - Luxury   Bound Elemental: Lightning, Air for the Echograms   Operation requirements: Int Check (Proficiency Tinker’s Tools): Int check DC 10   Powered by a lightning elemental, this device will play an echogram placed on it. Echograms have bound air elementals that will "echo" the captured oratory, vocal and instrumental performances done at the time of their binding. This technology allows the most astounding bardic performances to be shared without the bard's presence.

What does it look like?

How are they operated?

A round disc with the air elemental contained is placed on the reader. Electrical impulses stimulate the elemental and produce the recorded sound.  The machine is relatively simple to operate.(DC 10 Int check)

Where are they found?

While available for public use, Echograms themselves are still quite expensive and the Echograph itself is expensive. As such this is typically a luxury item.  It has become a popular device for nobles, particularly those not wanting to keep a bard on retainer or to replay special performances.
