Low Class Taverns
Typically found in and around a city’s slums and ports, low class taverns attract a rather rough crowd. Full of sailors, ne’er-do-wells, criminals and the poor who just can’t afford any better, these places are often dens of illegal gambling, illicit deals, drugs, and whores.
Low class taverns are usually tucked into dark corners, the exteriors showing wear and tear, grime, and sometimes rickety or even falling apart. The interiors are often the same, with broken tables and chairs, scarred wooden surfaces, questionable food and drink, and even more questionable ‘entertainment.’ However, even the basest low class tavern still sells Eisen ale, though certainly of the cheapest variety. Eisenvolk take their ale very seriously and not even the lowest tavern would dare to water it down lest they find themselves threatened by the clientele.
Those who frequent these establishments are generally those who live a Squalid or Poor lifestyle. They are often quick to fight, with brawls happening often enough that it’s considered part of the entertainment. Other entertainment can include card games and other games of chance, unsanctioned fighting or boxing matches, bards unaffiliated with the Bardic or Artisan’s Guilds (and often singing bawdy songs), and non-Confidante whores. And, while they would never admit to it, one can occasionally find those of better lifestyles ‘slumming it’ for a night with the usual patrons.
Participants
It’s very rare for Taverns in lower class areas to be part of The Hospitality Consortium of Eisen. Occasionally, a Tavern will claim guild membership that is not, in fact, run by a Master and hopes the guild doesn’t investigate.
