Narrators & Questgivers

Narrators

Narrators are expected to handle Narrator subplots, and when assigned by a storyteller, party or personal level plot.   Each plot assigned to a Narrator is expected to have a scene run at least once a month, though if a Narrator wants to go beyond that and the players are able to match the schedule they can.   Narrators also provide general assistance on game night, which can be things like running NPCs or a combat room.   As a general rule, Narrators should take time as Questgivers first so that a general playstyle and storytelling style can be seen. Narrators can be a shared resource among the ST staff or assigned to a specific ST based on the ST and Narrator needs.

Questgivers

Questgivers are expected to run individual, single-night “one-shot” storylines which are small and level appropriate in nature. These do not need to be scheduled with players in advance and will involve whomever is around and is looking for a scene. Questgivers are expected to run these one-shots between two and four times a month.

Procedures

Narrators

Narrator-run plots (City, Party, Personal) can either be Narrator written and run or ST written and Narrator run. If a Narrator wants to write their own plots, the plot draft should be submitted in advance through the ticket system and approved by a Storyteller.   Narrators have full access to the Loot Tables (individual monster or treasure horde) but should be sure to indicate treasure as part of the plot draft.

Questgivers

Questgivers should send a short 1-3 sentence summary to the ticket system in advance of running their plot and, if possible, get a Storyteller’s approval. If no Storytellers are available, Narrators may approve QG plots.   Questgivers are limited to the “individual monster” Loot Tables.
