Peitho, Goddess of Love & Beauty (PAY-thoh)

The Laughing Girl, The Mistress of Delights, The Flame-Hearted Harlot, The Lady of Hope

Portfolio

Peitho is the goddess of love, beauty, sex, and carousing   Peitho believes that the law is a hindrance more often than not, and that people will ultimately choose what is right if given the choice   Peitho abhors cruelty and delights in love and joy, encouraging love in all those who need it

Depiction

Peitho is shown as a beautiful, smiling woman of any race, but always with the brightest red hair. She is often shown wearing either the clothes of a dancer, a courtesan, or draped only in fabric and jewelry   Peitho is a merry, whimsical goddess who delights in spreading joy and mischief, a deep contrast to her brother Nicodemus’s dry personality. She loves getting involved in the affairs of mortals, playing matchmaker whenever possible, especially in those relationships that show the promise of true love. She is prone to fits of passion and occasional tantrums, especially when she doesn't get her way, but these mostly involve her stamping her feet and pouting dramatically.

Relationships

Peitho is the daughter of Morwen and Kelesta, the twin sister of Nicodemus, and the wife of Lucetius   Peitho gets on well with most of the pantheon, with two exceptions: Barasios, who resents Peitho for her rejection of his marriage offer, and Tanith, who is the antithesis of everything Peitho stands for. She does get along best with Lucetius and Sephira, and often tries to drag Nicodemus from his domain to be sociable. She is also one of Eosphorus's fiercest champions outside of the young god's partners, since Peitho knows how much his heart has changed.

Symbols

Peitho’s holy symbol is a stemmed red rose and a glass of wine   Peitho’s colors are red, silver, and gold   Peitho’s favored weapon is the fighting fan   Among Peitho’s other symbols are roses, fans, mirrors, cats, and peaches
