The Incorporation of Food and Drink Provisioners

Those that grow, create, or sell food or beverages

The Fodri, as it is commonly known, is one of the largest guilds in Eisen. The guild covers any business that grows, creates, or sells food or beverages but are not restaurants, which are covered under the Hospitality Consortium. Members of the Fodri include farmers who produce edible crops or livestock, bakers, butchers, greengrocers, breweries, vintners, confectioners, and any other type of shop selling culinary items, such as spices, preserves, or cheeses.

Structure

Guildmaster

Leticia Brokentusk is the Loxodon head of the Fodri. Widowed at a young age, she took over Brokentusk Farms, her late husband’s struggling family business. Through her keen business sense, shrewd negotiation skills, and kind heart, Leticia has not only revitalized the business, but has taken to her position as Guildmaster with ease.

Guild Representative

Chester Smithsson is the representative for the Fodri, a young half-orc who hides his canny political prowess behind a huge grin and a boisterous nature. Chester owns Chester’s Caravan of Meats, where he produces some of the finest cured meats and sausages from across Eisen.

Guild Administrator

A vedalken named Marconius Wilde is the administrator for the Fodri. He is a quiet, studious man who takes an extremely methodical approach to both the wines he creates and to guild affairs.

Guild Structure and Ranks

Apprentice: Fodri apprentices begin by learning the mechanics of their trade -- the processes by which things are grown or made. They are also taught much about the economics of merchanting, supply and demand, and customer service. Later in their apprenticeships, they are allowed to actually begin crafting or growing merchandise.   Journeyer: Journeyers mostly tend to the day-to-day business work, staffing counters, creating and packaging products, and keeping inventory. Many journeyers begin crafting their own recipes, or act as traveling branches of their Master’s shop.   Master: Masters are typically the ones experimenting with new techniques and recipes for the goods they sell, setting shop prices, advertising, and handling special orders for clients.   Mastery Exam: In the case of created products, such as baked goods, candies, or meats, the potential Master is tasked with presenting a sampling of their own recipes and creations to be judged on taste and appearance. Farmers must showcase products that they have grown themselves. In both cases, however, the individual is also given an extensive examination on economic principles.

Culture

The Fodri is extremely varied in their approach to formality. Many businesses under the guild’s banner are family-owned, staffed and supported by relatives or close friends; an apprentice could very well be a Master’s child, grandchild, or other close relative. As such, formality varies greatly between any particular trade, craft, or Master.   Patron God: Fodla

Guild Symbols

The most common symbol for the Fodri is a pin or medallion in the shape of an apple, worn in copper, silver, or gold, depending on rank. Most members also wear an emblem of their shop or profession as well, such as a piece of cheese for a cheesemonger, or a wine glass for a vintner.

Guild House Description

The Fodri guild house is a three-story brick and stone building just outside of town. While the guild hall itself is of a fairly decent size, full of bedrooms, meeting rooms, storage, and test kitchens, the biggest part of the property is a large building for the inspection and grading of food products.

Public Agenda

The Fodri’s primary responsibility is the inspection of food products, manufacturing areas, and farms for safety, sanitation, and quality. Inspections are carried out twice a year and handled by teams of three, with one Master and two Journeyers. The Fodri takes this job incredibly seriously, and businesses out of line with guild standards are fined, sanctioned, or even expelled from the guild if the infraction is severe enough.
