Glyphagy

What can we gather from symbols both abstract and true?   Yes we summon power, we hold lives in our hands, we are the masters of our verse, and nothing shall hold us against this     *Magic glyphs*: In the world of Terras Mana, magic is called forth from glyphs. It is the source, the calling of the life stream into being. Glyphs, when formed, allow the caster to bring into the world their hearts desire, if they are powerful enough, or creative enough. The majority of the population can only call forth one glyph at a time. But every Terrisian and some veral, depending on their affinity with nature can call them forth. Only a few that are determined genius can call forth two or more at once.   There are different types of glyphs, and how they are activated also differs depending on the strength of the user, and how they wish to cast their spell.   Touch glyphs: must be placed upon. A person or object to activate. The power of the spell is sustained until requirement of placement is met.   Range glyphs: Glyphs that can be placed at range for others to cast. or for the caster to cast from placement postion.   Modifying glyphs: These can change the features and shapes of different objects, animals, and other sentient and non sentient beings. Basicallly illusion glyphs.   Enchantment glyphs: Buffs and debuffs upon a plethora of different objects and phycsical attributes.   Contemporary: A contemporary glyph is a permenant glyph that is only activated upon certain met conditions. IE. a trap placed in an old ruins that is actiated by stepping in the activation zone.   Permanent: The famile glyph is a prime example of a permanent activated glyph. Whereas the spell that keeps the Famile in check is dependant upon the connection between the five individuals that are sealed by it. It is extremely hard to remove, and doing so can kill or cause major damage to the wielder or the object the glyph was placed upon.     The draw backs and the reason why most Terrisians cannot call upon more than one glyph at a time is that Glyphs are like a bridge that connects their body to the lifestream that breathes life into the planet. Using too much will drain the bodies energy In effect it is more like a muscle that has to be worked and trained to be able to use stronger and stronger spells and magics.   It is possible to have multiple Terrisians gather and create a large glyph using their combined strength.

Manifestation

Each glyph is different, in color, in size, and shape. One summons a glyph by placing their fingertips together and drawing power from themselves, as they open their hand the glyph they wish for is called into being. This can be done with any number of finger tips, including all ten for larger, more powerful spells. There are beings in the world that are human like, creatures and other sorts that have through their long lives/evolution, have acquired the ability to naturally summon glyphs or are born with permanent or enhancing glyphs upone their hides. However these creatures and monsters do it differently, some using their lips, tails, eyes, etc. These creatures are rare, and more sentient then others, most of the time acting out in self defense.   Some creatures are also just naturally bred in the wild and do not have a higher sentience.

Localization

Every single of the Terrisian race can use Glyphagy. Though there are some discrepancies in where the races settled making subdivisions of Glyphagy.
