Dragonmarked

Amongst those born with an affinity to draconic magic are some who are said to be favored amongst ancient dragons, with powerful magics and the ability to take on dragon-like forms. These gifted mages see dragons, and the difference in how they use the weave, as an aspiration and something to awe. Striving to perfect the same mastery over the weave they dedicated themselves to these ancient dragons, aiding in however they were asked. After a pact made for their servitude, they were each granted a Dragonmark; boons that would allow them to become more like dragons, in aspect and in magical capibility. Being humanoid, however, and not pure dragon causes severe strain on the marked idividuals body and their magic may act in strange ways due to it's instability. They are also more susceptable to the will of powerful dragons, becoming tools at their hand if a dragon knows how to hold influence on the mark. These Dragonmarked mages created small bloodlines that trickled through the ages, imbuing rare individuals with the ability to manifest and weild an Aberrant Dragonmark.
The Dragonmarked are strongly connected to dragons through the use of the weave and affect it differently than others when casting spells. Because of this; dragons are able to, when paying close attention, pick out dragonmarked individuals from others in a small group. A powerful and keen enough dragon may notice this and sieze an opportunity to gain a treasure... You!
Some of the ancient dragon mages went on to create small clans that would cultivate the understanding and potency of the mark by continuing to serve draconic masters. Seeking evermore to bring themselves and the world closer to dragon-like perfection.
