Arcanite (Are-can-ight)

Arcanite is an ore that functions similar to copper but for magic instead of electricity. It is a conduit/storage medium for magical energy. There is currently not much research known about the ore/resource as it had only been discovered around 1200 P.C. so scholars at the university are still researching and finding the limits of Arcanite. Thus far, the main uses have been found as enhancing runes and using the ore as a medium to store a user's magic in to create a larger expulsion of magic later.
The ore is found in veins less than a mile underground in highland/low mountain regions. However, the ranges/regions that it is found in are few and far between. When a vein is located, there is a large amount of this ore that can be found at that location. 
Additionally, various breeds of dragons tend to intrinsically flock to these mountain ranges/highland areas with this ore due to the magical energy that is emitted by the ore. Dragons seem to use this ore to help nurture their young as they are in their eggs or in the youth to increase their connection and affinity for magic. The mining of this ore seems to aggravate the dragons that may be nearby as it disrupts the growth of their young causing the dragons to last out violently.
There is also an ore recently discovered that is being called Nullstone. So far, this ore seems to be a direct opposite to Arcanite as it is a magical void. Nullstone is very very dense and heavy so it is not fully practical but scholars are still studying this new ore to learn its specific properties.
