The Organism

The Organism is one unified network of fungal growth. Primarily centered on the western portion of Vig'Athura, it has spread to almost every continent on Tesia.
It mainly spreads through contact, and sometimes through ingestion of spores. Once the growth has attached itself to a host, it begins to spread toward their brain, where it implants itself. Once that has occurred, the host is irreparably linked to The Organism and subject to its will. The only way to remove the growth from an affected creature is to carve away the external mass, and burn deep enough to kill any on the inside.
In places where The Organism has had a lot of time to grow, it slows down and members are allowed to regain much of their control. Their personalities are retained, and to outsiders, these regions are nothing more than a regular, functional society.
