Kubeth

Kubeth is a wild god and god of survival. He instructed his followers to be as the beasts, though the way in which this has been interpreted varies widely. He is focused on the present and is not much concerned with the past or future. Although he is wild, his purview is not only the hunting of beasts but the foraging for food and the search for stone or metal for tools –whatever it takes to survive.
Kubeth is the god who gives direct practical support to his followers. To reflect this, he is called the Lord of Gifts. The Beasts of Kubeth are sent to help in the hour of our need. His rule is to follow these beasts, the extent and manner to which is the choice of his followers, who tend to gather in small groups with a like-minded leader. A few live isolated from cities, whilst others integrate into civilisation and worship one of Kubeth’s tamer aspects. Kubeth values passion, instinct and wisdom more than cool-headed book learning. His consort is the Dancer in the Forest, Liltauriel, believed by some to be an aspect of Lorelei.

Celebrations of life and survival. Many are tests of endurance, such as extremes of weather or isolation, where the one undergoing the test runs a very real risk of death. They range from climbing the highest peak or swimming the widest river to hunting the fiercest beast unarmed. All are conducted alone in the wilderness, having fasted and called upon Kubeth to witness the deed.
Group rites include nightly revels in the forest where gifts are exchanged before dancing until dawn or the point of complete exhaustion, whichever may come first.
