Untussa (oon-TOO-sa)
The Crown Jewel of Lukase
A metropolis built at the edge of the vast, verdant A’Bomi jungle and the Ennon plains. The structures closer to the forest are built of a white stone which shines brilliantly in the light. Entering the city the plains long grass is transformed into structures. Smaller family homes built purely from the grass to larger three story retail spaces which incorporate the white stone as a foundation and mud to build up the walls. The streets are networked in a semi circle array with large thoroughfares crowded with people and animals alike all leading further into the city. These large roads are rather than paved it seems they’re almost grown from living root systems. In the center a large canal runs parallel with docks for the various boats and ships ferrying goods and people spaced every half a kilometer. The Earthen wards. The Earthen wards are the people’s district of Untussa. Where most live and do their daily business. The more wealthy live closer or even inside the jungle proper but most are happy to live in the light of the sun. A large number of the people here are tabaxi and human, with a spattering of halflings, Loxodon and the occasional minotaur and centaur who seem to be more visiting or on business. The Green Oasis. The home of the rich in Untussa, a city almost so different from the Earthen Ward that it seems out of place. Many of the people that make their home here are priests, warrior clansmen, and the advising council to the monarchs of Lukase as well as the monarchs themselves. The Green Osis is also home to the temples of the copious gods and demigods that are worshipped in Lukase. In the center of the Green Oasis is the largest temple known as the Archway of Creation of which the seat of power rests.
The Archway. The Archway of Creation is a massive feat of engineering. Two trees hundreds of feet tall have been overtime bent and grown so their canopies intertwine with each other. Within the heart of this mingling is a building of stone and living plant. Cascades of leaves and flowers drop down from the tangles of branches, billowing in a breeze creating the effect of a shimmering breathing creature.
The canals all merge in the center underneath the building as a peaceful pool covered in pink and white lilies and inhabited by enormous horned beetles.
Framed in the archway as you walk down the street is what is considered the most sacred place of Lukase, the Tree of Life. It is still a day’s travel from Untussa but it’s massive form is still visible above the dense fog that hangs in the forest’s canopy.
