Agrilth Scale Weakness
Something that every adolescent Garruw goes through, the agrilth is a kind of scale weakness that goes away as they get older. It happens to every child, rather like the common cold among humans, and is rarely anything to be afraid of. (See Shonafa Spear for an instance of otherwise.)
The skins of babies can be quite tough, but as they get older and this is stretched out, it becomes less and less of a defense. In addition, the childhood scales are spread out across the body, providing less protection. It's all fine, though, until the agrilth starts.
A Chrysalis of Sorts
When the agrilth starts, it's rather uncomfortable for the child. Their bodies are changing at a faster rate than normal, starting production of those adult scales that will grown and regrow for the rest of their lives. The issue is, this growth process is a bit painful and itchy. Moreover, it results in a softening of the skin for the new scales to grow, and the scales themselves are softer than when they are fully mature. Everything is more sensitive, and most adolescents are quite miserable for the season it takes to finish this process.
