Across the seas and shores the Myron sail and swim, they walk in two worlds, one of air and one of water.
Myron are an semi aquatic offshoot of humanity that have almost completely adapted to surviving both above and below the water. They are ocean wanderers that travel the seas in raft-like floating villages and towns and rarely stay in one place for very long. These rafts are often very large and can support hundreds of Myron, containing houses, merchant stores, crafting buildings, farms and other oddities. Many Myron villages also contain many boats and ships that are used for fishing trips, trading and defense and thus the Myron are exceptional sailors.   Despite having surface water homes and villages Myron are able to breath underwater indefinitely and can hunt fish, build outposts and travel under the waves without the need to return to the surface for air. Few Myron outposts are very deep however and the Myron themselves seem somewhat hesitant to discuss deep sea journeys or discoveries. Many conversations have dried up and lapsed into a strange silence whenever I have tried to broach the subject and whatever prevents them from venturing into the deep oceans is so far, a well kept secret. The Myron are seemingly at a strange place in the world, and there is only tradition and a preference for surface dwelling that prevents them from becoming a fully aquatic people.
Myron resemble humans in many crucial respects, however they conceal underwater adaptations that are not apparent at first glance. With four large gill-slits on each side of their chests they are most at home in rivers and oceans.   Myron have brown skin that is often freckled and sun kissed by long years traveling on ships and thick wiry black and brown hair that is often oiled and kept braided or tightly bound. They tend to be lithe and long limbed and Myron legs can lock together at the knees making them excellent swimmers.
Underwater Home
It is said that long ago a tribe of humans lived near a great river, they crafted boats and fished the waters, becoming rich and content. Over time, the boats become ships and seas and oceans were no longer a barrier, but an opportunity. But this great time of plenty came to an end when another tribe grew jealous and wanted to claim the river and the ships for their own. Instead of fighting, the river tribe simply departed and beseeched their gods to keep them safe as they searched for a new home.   The Myron tell this tale with a certain fondness and levity and say that the gods answered their prayers by giving them the ocean itself. But this does raise a more pressing question that they can never seem to answer, how did the Myron become so well adapted with such drastic physical changes within only a few thousand years or so? Perhaps their gods did play a hand in shaping their physical forms or perhaps something else played a role that the Myron have simply forgotten.
Myron call the seas and oceans their home and are not keen to step onto land unless they can help it. Trading is often conducted with Myron on board their own ships wherever possible. Ocean travel is so easy to a Myron that they often sail away from their villages on trading voyages for weeks at a time and can navigate their way back without issues despite the villages drifting and traveling in a seemingly random direction. They call this a home sense and an individual Myron can have many home senses to different locations throughout their life.   Myron are generally a happy and positive people, they enjoy a stable existence on the oceans, and are fully self sufficient they can also simply move away from threats if they occur nearby. They are also happy to share wealth like pearls, food, dyes and lost relics with other humans when they trade. Such meetings are short however as Myron dont mix very well with other humans, they view other humans as slow, lumbering and comical. The only thing Myron constantly need is building materials, such as wood to extend their rafts and build new ships.
