Berhilda Ironbraid
Berhilda Ironbraid is the captain of the guard in Ravenmar. She is a Naldorese dwarven woman who grew up in Thog'Naldar, but became a citizen of the Kingdom of Wolfsbrunn after her father was hired by a mining company to excavate a part of the Nor'mul Mine. By the time the company was done with their work and her family was returning home, she had grown fond of the city and decided to stay there and join the city guard.
Berhilda is rarely seen without her distinctive plate armor, which she had made from the very iron that her father mined from the Nor'mul mine. It gleams with a polished shine as she polishes and takes care of the armor meticulously. The chestpiece and pauldrons of the armor are adorned with the symbol of Ravenmar and small engravings of ravens in a typical Naldorese style, a homage to both her heritage and home. Berhilda wields weapons befitting her stature and expertise. The standard issue short sword of the guard is always by her side, but her weapon of choice is her own battle-axe. An heirloom of the Ironbraid family with a head made of the finest naldorese steel, and a handle wrapped in sealskin for a comfortable but firm grip. She also carries a shield, emblazoned with the crest of Ravenmar Berhilda lives by a strict code of conduct that emphasizes discipline, honesty, and duty. She is a "by the rules" type of person, firmly believing that structure and regulations are essential for the effective functioning of the guard and the safety of the city. Her decisions are guided by this code, and she expects the same level of commitment and adherence to rules from those under her command. She is known to be extremely tidy, a trait that extends to her personal quarters, her office in the barracks, and even to the arrangement of her armor and weapons. This tidiness is more than a personal preference; it's a reflection of her belief in the importance of order and preparedness. Despite these characteristics, Berhilda possesses a friendly demeanor, especially towards those she respects or considers friends. She has a dry sense of humor, often surprising those around her with a witty remark or a clever observation.
