Maxius Iudex. Martyrem Avatar de Primo Pracepto
Requirements
To become the new Maximus Iudex, one must be a follower of Ashera who is of firm morals and unshakable faith. Should the First Commandment judge you worthy of becoming the Maximus Iudex, it shall meld with you and you shall hold it’s powers within you.
Duties
The Iudex is the de facto head of the Church of Ashera. They must administrate to the church in accordance with the will of Ashera. The Iudex as the high judge of the Church must act as a mediator and has final say in quandries related to faith. Furthermore they must keep true to the commandments and dispose of all those within the church who would work against Ashera. The Iudex acts as Ashera’s left hand judging the wicked, and caging the chaotic. Execution of these adversaries must be swift and without mercy, but just and fair. On the public side the Iduex must greet pilgrims of Ashera, and perform blessings to them. Should they have moral quandaries the Iudex must answer them. In addition to these tasks the Iduex must prepare for the coming of Incarantio Ashera, and keep the throne of Ashera empty until the Incarnatio reveals themself.
Benefits
The Iudex is allowed the full scope of knowledge of the church and access to The Palace of Law. The Palace acts as the Iudex’s new home, as well as the entourage of staff that comes with it. The Iudex also holds sway over the Consilium de Mandatis as its head. They hold the authority to veto any consensus the group comes to.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The Iudex is dressed in a large white garb that has the commandments of Ashera stitched into it in many different languages. The Iudex also wears a blindfold at all times in order to keep their judgment free of bias. Along with this garb the Iudex holds 2 artifacts of Ashera, Trahentium Innocentiae, and Fierent (The sword and scales of Ashera.)
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The Iudex will be brought before the Councilium who will read off their crimes. The Councilium will then debate what shall be done with the accused, which would most likely be public execution. However in the church's history this has never happened as the First Commandment seems to never err in its judgment of its hosts.
