Ashera The Law Bringer (ah-SHERR-a)
Ashera is dead. She was killed by Tharizdun when she lured him to the Astral Plane.
All of her clerics magic comes from the divine spark within each sapient being.
Those that attempt to commune with her as with any god are instead connected to Tharizdun.
The Lady of Law Ashera (a.k.a. The Law Bringer)
Divine Domains
Justice, Truth
- As the prime god of law and justice Ashera is no doubt a patron of those who pursue justice and truth. However while the likes of Bahamut believe that justice must be tempered with mercy, Ashera is of the belief that justice has no room for mercy, and only the truth is absolute. There is only the guilty and innocent, there is no in between, and the guilty are worthy of no mercy. Criminals are dirt, and they have no place in society.
Order, Protection
- While the guilty are given no mercy or thought, the innocent are protected at all costs. Laws are the bulwark of our society and without order and law there is nothing to keep the wilds and the beasts within from crossing into our civilization. Ashera works to keep the order in our society and therefore the innocents protected from evil. The law is aboslute so by keeping it in place the protection of the innocents is assured.
Inquisition
- In order to keep the law upheld the inquisition is used to find and hunt all criminals, and seeds of chaos in our society. She is the patron of all officers of law, inquisitors, and investigators of crime.
Holy Books & Codes
The Words of Law
- The prime book of the faith is said to have been written by Saint Selen the Just while imprisoned for a crime she didn't commit. Her eyes were gouged out, and she was thrown in the oubliette to die. During that time she was visited by 10 angelic beings who taught her the Commandments of Ashera.
The Teachings of Ashera
- Though The Words of Law is said to be the backbone of the religion, The Teachings of Ashera is the heart and soul. Written by the very first Grand Judge of the Church of Ashera, the book is the source of the current tenants of Ashera. It has many lessons which the Grand Judge learned after years of study of The Words of Law. These ideals eventually superseded the Commandments of Ashera as the Tenets of Faith, however the Commandments are still memorized by every cleric of Ashera.
The Morality Scrolls
- The most holy relic of Ashera, the Morality scrolls are said to have been written by Ashera herself. Found in a vault that predated the Cataclysm, the scrolls were studied and copied by followers of Ashera. Detailing the necessity of law and the role it plays in the morality of our society, it is required to memorize the whole of it before one can become a cleric of Ashera.
