Backstory

"My father and mother were both hunters who made their living selling hides and meat to nearby towns while utilizing the rest of their catch for their own clothes and food. From a very early age, I was taught to hunt with a bow and arrow and also taught where to shoot an animal so that it would die quickest without ruining large parts of the sell-able hide. My family was fairly solitary and didn't spend a lot of time with the townsfolk, so I didn't get a lot of chances to socialize. Just so I didn't grow up stupid, they had me check out books from the library periodically. I wasn't so much interested in the fiction books, but I was more interested in learning about facts of the world, history, and most importantly, monsters. Monsters were often our only competition as hunters out in the wilds, so learning how to dispatch of them or how to drive them off was very useful. As I got older, I wanted to study these more in-depth and so I left home to study at a respected institute: Monsters University.

Thanks to me saving up some gold and acing their entrance exam and earning scholarship, I was able to study and earn a degree there. After graduation, they asked me to stay on as a professor and offered to fund my research endeavors. I spent over a decade teaching classes on cryptozoology, hunting tactics, and many other topics. While I enjoyed my tenure at Monsters University, I found myself doing less and less fieldwork and spending far too much time with people (a noted weak point of mine). I told the university as much and they seemed slightly offended that I didn't like spending time with them as people, but they understood my desires and we parted ways amicably.

Now that I am a free man once again, I wanted to find a way to hunt and discover many sorts of monsters. I heard of this Aberration Removal Agency and instantly knew that this was going to be my next fun chapter in my life. Plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with all kinds of creatures and get paid to do so? Sign me up!"
