Eclipse Ink

Eclipse Ink is an intriguing tattoo shop, run by the Aarakocra Erk, nicknamed "The Owl", this shop provides magic tattoo's. These tattoo's are rather pricy, but can grant all kinds of magical boons.   These tattoos come in two application methods; One is a more traditional tattoo style, where a normal needle is used in combination with crushed gemstones providing the source of the magical powers. The other is more unorthodox, where the needle itself is infused with magic. This needle then needs to be pressed into the skin of the recipient for 1 hour, which completes his or her attunement to the magical tattoo. The creation process of such a magic needle is a well kept secret by the group of tattoo artists to which Erk belongs.   There is also the cheaper variation of the first style: Henna tattoos; These tattoos have 1d6+2 charges, and give acces to the casting of one cantrip.   This means there are four types of tattoos:
  1. Henna tattoos: Cheap tattoo's that give acces to 1d6+2 castings of a cantrip. (25 gold)
  2. Gemstone tattoos: Tattoo's that can give a +1 to one of your stats, requires a certain amount of gem dust.
    • Ruby dust: +1 Strength (2200gp)
    • Emerald dust: +1 Dexterity (2200gp)
    • Diamond dust: +1 Constitution (2500gp)
    • Jade dust: +1 Wisdom (2200gp)
    • Sapphire dust: +1 Intelligence (2200gp)
    • Aquamarine dust: +1 Charisma (2200gp)
    • Fire Opal dust: Fire resistance (5000gp)
    • Black Sapphire dust: Cold resistance (5000gp)
  3. Fluid ink tattoos: These tattoos use the second application method, the magic needle. They require attunement, which is done over the 1 hour period it takes to set the tattoo. When one chooses to end this attunement the ink reforms into a magical needle, which then can be attuned to again to apply the tattoo again. These tattoos require spell scrolls, and consume them to grant a once a day use of the consumed spell. (spell scroll + 50g per level)
  4. Eclipse tattoos: These tattoos are fluid ink tattoos, but created during the eclipse. They also consume a spell scroll, but grant a heavily amplified version of the spell for once a day use. (spell scroll + 250 gold per level.)
The building has only one story, and the ground floor seems rather empty. The main attraction however is on the roof, where the inking happens.   There was a rumour that says that upon a tattoo being created under the total darkness of a solar eclipse, its effects are heavily amplified. Erk himself is an avid believer of this theory, and really wanted to test it out in the next solar eclipse, which he knew the date of. Erk even promised the party that their first one would be free, which seemed a little too good to be true.   The party went ahead with this offer and all got amplified tattoo's, and so far they seem to be working properly!
