Twikk Langua
Where Your Own Language Began... Likely.
A small race. Tiny in fact. The Twikk call themselves Populus Praegrandis (Huge, very large, great, gigantic people). Perhaps there were more Twikk in the Aerth at one point a very, very long time ago. However nobody has seen them since the first century humans arrived there. Surely if there were so many there would be some about the land. On the other hand perhaps the Twikk, sensitive about their hand-high size compared to the looming humans, tried to compensate with grand titles. No one knows and there are no more Twikk around to ask.
They were very tiny, very dignified and very intellectual if the ancient scrolls are to be believed. The Volumen ad Populi (Scroll of the People), written by a Twikk named Senec, encompasses the major people groups living just north of the Frozen Waist in the first century. The last he wrote he mentioned the Sage experiments and their eternal desire to gain wisdom from the humans. They, apparently, even investigated becoming human-sized to see whether size could change one's perspective on internal, mental matters.
However, after that entry the Twikk were never heard from again. Perhaps they succeeded and truly became human-sized and thereby continue to live among us without knowing their true identities. However, their shadowy skin and green eyes should be a giveaway. Perhaps the whole society was destroyed by this experiment.
Scholars continue to investigate the Twikkan Myth but none are hopeful of finding answers.
Even though their society continues to elude investigation, their language, the Twikk Lingua, still lingers. It shows up in the names of the oldest countries and settlements. Many names are based in that language, such as Magna or Draco. By this we can assume the Twikk were present for the first Magna's and had the honour of naming this new job.
In fact, this Lingua forms the origin of many words used in the Aerth and also the Earth. Though how it got through the crust to influence the building of several outer world languages is unknown.
