Grim
The children of mortal humans and Fae are perhaps the most cursed and unwanted peoples in any of the realms. They have no real place of their own – they are not known by the mortals, who remain all but ignorant of magic in their mists, becoming fearful of children that displace any instances of strange powers. Mortals might not know the Fae exist, but they instinctually sense and distain them. They are raised and live whole lives in the Mortalworld never knowing of their tainted blood or what really causes the strange phenomenon that happen all around them. And even though these half-children are purposefully created by the Fae, mostly to cause chaos in the Mortalworld, they have no place in Fae society. They are a blight they Fae are trying to spread, but not a blight that would ever be allowed in their own realm.
When half-mortal, half-Fae children die, they cannot crossover peacefully into the Afterworld like true mortal souls. Yet their mortal blood precludes them from passage to the Mistworld – realm of Fae, Monsters, and other Mythical Beings. So, they are doomed to wander endlessly around the Mortalworld, causing problems and reeking despair like a cloud of miasma poisoning their environment. Dead they are not able to communicate with each other but they are still drawn together like magnets feasting off the good, innocent, and virtuous to grow their clouds of despair even larger.
The Angel of Death has seen to collecting these souls in recent decades to try and manage the ever-growing problems they cause. Sword-based Neph would find them on their nightly patrols, and from there they could only be dispatched to the depths of Tartarus (unfortunately, regardless of the quality of their soul and the life they lead before they died). Still, the problems they souls have been causing is quite on the rise. With the signing of the Unholy Alliance, demon soldiers are now being sent to the Mortalworld to help collect these souls (the most prestigious of positions these demon soldiers could hope for).
These souls have been nicknamed The Grim.
