The Doomsday Prophesy

When Death is killed, the world will burn until there is nothing left but ash and flame.

The Doomsday Prophecy (or End of Days Prophecy, depending on the original translation) was first handed down by Samael, the original Angel of Knowledge, long before the knowledge that Angels could die, long before the creation of the Neph, long before the creation of anything, really, if the Scribes at The Angelic Society of the Quill are telling you about it. It tells of how the realms will end – or so the Scribes say – but this had also been highly debated back in its day, as Samael was well known for his flowery language filled with more metaphors than facts.

Historical Basis

At the time of telling, this prophecy had a huge impact on how the original twelve angels saw the rest of their worlds. There was major debate at the time over the angels needing their own army to help protect the realm and the creation of the Neph – children of angels and mortals who would be tasked with this protection. But the Angel of Death knew that he could not participate in this. Children meant heirs, and heirs meant there was someone to replace you, and if one could be replaced, then someone would have the motivation to do just that.
Unbeknownst to the angels, they we not the only ones to know of this prophecy. The Fae had heard of it at the time of telling, and they kept it within all of their circles. The Fae and their monsters have been trying to complete it with each war they start, with each monster they send to the Afterworld to attack. The want the world to end, thinking they would be the ones left once it did.
It wasn’t until millennia upon millennia later, as the Angel of Death stood as the last original angel left, that he was tricked and an heir was forced upon him, and upon his death he questioned whether it was the truth at all.

Ironically, for a prophecy of such importance, it has not spread the way one would suppose for such an important proclamation. It has been hidden, buried, and forgotten about. Right before the passing of Samael, the Angel of Knowledge, the Angel of Death begged a favor to be paid out at a later time to any of his descendants, that this prophecy be misfiled in the Great Archives, and that their Scribes who had spent their careers debating the how’s, when’s, and why’s of the Doomsday Prophecy be forbidden from teaching it to the next generation. And so millennia have passed, and the prophecy has become just a whisper. Other prophecies about the end of the world have been written, but only the Angel of Death knows that this one is the true prophecy, the true end.
