Asdraeck

History

Asdraeck was officially established with the signing of the Lotus Treaty, though the history of its formation begins nearly fifty years earlier during Aezzeal Invasion of 364AS. When the undead creature Aezzeal assaulted the city, the various minor districts located upstream were on the frontline of the horrors. In the chaos the Dwarf, Asdraeck of House Thundermail, rose to legend as he defended the city and destroyed Aezzeal. In the years following Asdraeck began to unite the minor districts of the area as he campaigned for resources to rebuild and oversaw the construction of Yanta Castle. Aesdraeck Thundermail would once again feature prominently in the history of Marsétan when he then led the armies of the western half of Marsétan during the Unification War of 406 AS. In return for his contribution to the war and his role in the Lotus Treaty, he became the first ruler of the newly established Aesdraeck district.   These days Asdraeck houses the military force of the city and many of the most prominent adventurers guilds. Taking inspiration from House Turmopende in The Village, the district has been rebuilt with defensibility in mind. It is home to the sprawling Yanta Castle and the Marsétan Wardens. In addition the three largest adventurers guilds can be found here: The Brightglades; the Disciples of the Lost; and the Shields of Ristarca. It is the only district with mandatory military service, and many residents are part of either the districts guard force or one of the various other martial institutions.   With many of the largest and most destructive conflicts taking place within its borders, the district of Asdraeck has some of the most efficient and orderly construction. Following a grid pattern, each block consists of 4-6 story brick buildings around a central courtyard. The streets themselves are thin, easily blockaded as necessary. Little wood or other flammable material can be found in the exteriors, and there are minimal windows, entrances, or decorative facades on the bottom floors.   For more on the governance of Asdraeck review Asdraeck Governing Body
