Cynórm
History
The district of Cynórm was never officially founded but rather expanded naturally out from the walls of it's namesake, the Cynórm Cathedral. At the time of the split a remote monastery ran by The Order of the Earth’s Prayer (OEP) who have continued to govern the area. In the fallout of The Split many found themselves drawn to the warm hearths and strong walls of the monastery. In the centuries that followed, the monastery expanded into a large cathedral set in a labyrinthian set of outer buildings, small temples, gardens, and walls. Small farms and town steads were swallowed up as the district expanded towards and along the Naud River. Throughout all of this the OEP has cared for the people of its district with a passionate devotion. The signing of the Lotus Treaty did little to shift the culture or structure of the district. These days old values, long traditions, and a protection of history are still held in high regard here. The districts critics claim Cynórm venerates a mythologized orthodoxy, its supporters point to its quiet station as a perpetual power as a sign of its divine purpose. Despite its love of history, the district has never taken an isolationist approach to municipal politics and remains a powerful guiding voice throughout the city. The built environment radiates out along meandering old dirt paths now paved with large cobble stones. The buildings are thin and tall with ribbed vaults creating steep but solid roofs with large windows. These are often enhanced with basalt and granite columns, and small half-dome extensions. Every block or two contains smaller temples as well as shrines. Frequently the landscape features iconography of earth, hands, plows, and mountains - sometimes in stained glass, other times etched into patterns on walls. Some clearly related to the Order of the Earths prayer, but other spiritual traditions are present as well. There is a sense of friction as the displays of spirituality, building styles, and and iconography clash block to block. Despite the chaotic and disparate architecture and faiths, there is a sense of shared order amongst the people. With activity centering on smaller places of worship and the open spaces around them.Landmarks and Organizations

The City Archives With the signing of the lotus treaty it was decided that Cynórm would house the official archives of the city. This large building houses many of the relics, formative texts, and historical records of the split. the OEP Archives Much older than the city archives, the OEP archives hold many of the more powerful magical artifacts, obscure texts, and religious documents of the area. To this day, it would seem that the OEP archives holds an inordinate amount of power in deciding what items end up in the public city archives, and what get cloistered deep in the OEP bowels. The Order of the East Wind A templar order established as one of the military arms of the OEP.
