Cogbyrn
Hairless felines that thrive in low gravity environments. Originally planetbound, the cogbyrns were forced into space by the ecological devastation of their homeworld, and their biology has adapted considerably in the time since.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Cogbyrns are feline in base structure and anatomy, though their most notable anatomical feature is their skin. Individuals have no body hair whatsoever, and seem to possess anywhere from twice to three times as much skin as their frame would seem to require. This additional surface area allows cogbyrns to radiate heat with surprising efficiency - and endears them to wearing big puffy sweaters.
Genetics and Reproduction
The modern cogbyrn is a product of both environmental selection and deliberate genetic modification, both carried out over centuries in space. All of these modifications are heritable, requiring no treatments or maintenance, and they are thus a permanently altered species.
Ecology and Habitats
The optimal environment for a cogbyrn is a pressurized and confined artificial space, with no or minimal gravity. On planets, or in structures large enough to have open spaces, they begin to develop adverse health effects: agoraphobia, respiratory blockages, etc. It is not uncommon to see cogbyrns with assistive devices, such as breathing gear.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omnivorous, albeit with a preference for meat.
