Parsnip's Journal

Parsnip's journal is a bespoke artifact from a maker of enchanted fineries in her hometown of Sutet. The journal's pages are perhaps five and a half inches tall, and just under four across, with a cover in fine burnished leather protruding half an inch to each side. The journal is kept locked with a bright silver clasp, carefully inscribed with a bloodbound security enchantment - the clasp is not unlocked with a key or a knob, but by pressing a finger into a well to allow an ethereal needle to sample the blood of the user, opening only if the sample matches that used to lock it in the first place. Additionally, if the lock is forced, the pages are found to be blank, their contents restored only by the proper hand. In this way, in theory, a bloodbound journal such as hers could be used by multiple people to keep multiple simultaneous sets of entries, though in practice this can lead to the loss of information if swapped between users too often.   The journal was purchased by Parsnip's niece, Neep Rassic, as a gift for Parsnip's 40th birthday. It was offered with a simple message on the first page, in Neep's hand. Though this message was lost when Parsnip first locked the journal, she still remembers it, and keeps the gift close to her heart:
I offer you a safe place to record the thoughts that, for whatever reason, you dare not share with those around you. I have found a great deal of comfort in the opportunity to do so, when I have things I must express but cannot say. I hope that you find such a tool as useful as I have. Your niece, Neep.
Parsnip still recalls the giving of that gift with fondness. Though she had little use for the journal itself until the commencement of the Realmbridge project, the trust expressed by her niece sharing her real name and real identity is something that she cherishes.   At the moment, the journal is approximately halfway filled, with entries covering the whole of the Realmbridge project and much of its flight. Recently, on the advice of Captain Fellatia Throatgoat , Parsnip has begun to chronicle her thoughts again.

Significance

Parsnip's journal chronicles her work on the Realmbridge, and the events of her life during that work.  It also chronicles the events of the flight.  As one of the few artifacts of her homeland that she still possesses, Parsnip values the book greatly, though she cannot bear to look at its entries.
