Tabell
Hircine mammals hailing from an alpine terra world somewhere in the Amaranthine Sector. A fairly recent contact (within the last fifty years) but already well-integrated as members of the Interstellar Consortium.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Tabell have a hircine - or goatlike - bodyplan, with digitigrade legs ending in cloven hooves. They have long necks, to aid in reaching the vulnerable leaves of armored flora on their homeworld, and their snouted heads are crowned with curved black horns.
Genetics and Reproduction
Fairly standard anatomy and function for mammals, though with a quicker gestation - just short of 8 months - and a slight bias toward twin births.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omnivorous, but with a preference for vegetation.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Snouted heads with a velvet nose and floppy ears.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Tabell have side-facing eyes with horizontal pupils, granting them a wide field of vision.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Names are made up of one's given name and the name of their clan, interspersed with titles, i.e. 'Fellatia Throatgoat' from the given name of 'Fellatia' combined with the name of Clan Throatgoat. Individuals are also given family names, taking the place of a middle name, but these are personal and generally not shared with outsiders.
Major Organizations
Government of the tabell homeworld is split not between nations or kingdoms, but between city-states ruled by massive clans, each made up of powerful ruling families. After first contact with the ISC, the major clans have incorporated and represent themselves as private enterprises, but the internal politics have changed little if at all. For minor nomadic clans, nothing has changed beyond seeing new lights in the sky.
Average Technological Level
Post-industrial before first contact, since uplifted to somewhere around the early space age.
Known Individuals
Average Height
6'6" to 8'
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Tabell fur is most commonly a light ash-gray, but can be anywhere from white to a nearly black charcoal-gray.
