Soul Destruction, also known as Annihilation, is the ultimate consequence of overusing specific types of magic that draw upon positive energy, as well as encountering the true form of celestial beings like angels or gods. Soul Destruction is permanent and can not be undone, not even by a god.
Partial Soul Destruction
Partial Soul Destruction, also known as Partial Annihilation, refers to the partial deterioration of one's soul. This phenomenon often occurs due to the excessive use of positive energy-based magic, leaving the individual vulnerable to the harmful effects of Desolation, a corrupted form of positive energy. As soul destruction is an agonizing and protracted process, it can be halted by introducing negative energy into the body to cleanse it of Desolation.
Following partial soul destruction, individuals undergo a profound transformation, becoming ghouls—beings that prey on the living for sustenance. While retaining fragments of their former selves, ghouls are consumed by an insatiable hunger that cannot be appeased. This voracious appetite for flesh arises from the profound emptiness within them, a constant reminder of the fragment of their soul that has been lost.
Despite occasional glimpses of their former personalities, ghouls are primarily driven by their relentless urge to consume.
Full SOul Destruction
Full Soul Destruction, also known as Full Annihilation, refers to the complete deterioration of one's soul. This phenomenon often occurs due to the excessive use of positive energy-based magic, leaving the individual vulnerable to the harmful effects of Desolation, a corrupted form of positive energy.
Those who have undergone full soul destruction become zombies, grotesque creatures of the undead who feast on the flesh of the living. Unlike their ghoul counterparts zombies, are devoid of any trace of their former selves. They are shallow husks roaming the earth in search of the living. However their pursuit of flesh is not merely driven by instinct, but by a desperate attempt to fill the void left behind by the absence of their soul.
