The Shamans of Riek
The Shamans of Riek are an expansive and powerful body of a Riekian society.
Their order is split into multiple different sects that responsible for wide array of different Riekian society. These sects are as follow:
The Star Shamans - The scientists and astronomers, responsible for most of the magical and technological research in Riek and they hold the most sway outside of Riek.
The Judicators - The judges and the feared enforcers of law. They called when settling disputes and other matters of law, they well trained in reading people diserning the truth in all things. They are also ruthless in their hunt for criminals in Riek and often Eleann as a whole.
The Sky Shamans - Also known as the "Hammers of Gods" are the main priesthood of Riek. Feared and respected in an equal measure, these shamans bring the wrath of gods upon the populace and reminds them of their place under the wrathful gods. They are orators of uncanny skill and can whip devotees into frothing religious fervor until blood flows though the street. They are also often known to be mages and warriors- and often accompany soldiers to the battlefield, where they sing battle hymns and deploy their knowledge of Riekian Blood Magic to the fullest.
Blood magic is heavily used by Riekian Shamans. Their callous disregard of mortal life is disconcerting to many. The extreme fatalism wrought by religiously fueled mentality, sees the population happily surrender themselves for their fates. And for shamans to reduce people to little more than fuel for their magical rituals, research and experiments. For outsiders, this seems heavy-handed, even unhinged. And it is true that the presence and actions of Riekian Shamans are unsettling for some- and terrifying for most. And those enlisted in, or even accompanying them for longer periods of time have the risk of losing their minds under the ever constant religious violence and bloodshed that the priesthood and the masses almost gleefully participate in. Yet all these downright brutal practices are sanctioned by the Eleann Emperor. The experiments done by the Shamans have historically bear fruit and the Riakian advancement in magitech is world renown.
