The Grey Guide, Maiden of the Ending Road & The Huntress Unwilling
The HANDMAIDEN OF OMORION, the Huntress Unwilling has been depicted in various roles but she is primarily associated with Death and the Journey to the Underworld. She is believed to be the gentle yet firm hand that guides one away from the mortal coil. She is oftentimes depicted as a more benevolent psychopomp than OMORION whose unyielding task and grim power permeates everything associated with him. Not all variations of her are considered benevolent as many texts associate sightings of her at scenes of slaughter and murder. In these manifestation, she is often described as rising from below-ground to watch, witness and ward those whose lives have been taken. Some texts even relate that those who have caught a glimpse of her pale countenance were chilled by the hungry smile evident there.
She is commonly depicted with a stylized torch of intricate design whose flame is smokeless and azure in warmth. Most believe the item to be a guide to light the way to the Underworld although some theological texts refer to it as a key to the Ashen Gates, a badge of office or a symbol of her status as one who Walks-Between-Worlds. Another common accoutrement is a bound scroll that diviners have described as being part-and-parcel of her role as a Herald of Fate and Destiny.
