The Powers Immortal
The Powers Immortal is the scholarly term for all great Powers that are worshipped, placated, feared and/or summoned by the Named Races and other mortalkind.
There are several distinct groups of Powers.
Elderwraths
The Elderwraths are those primordial beings of dark aspect that rage outside in the Void where they originated and where they were walled off in time immemorial by the grand Titans of old. The Elderwraths are beings no, they are Power, in its primordial form. Morality and Rationality are alien concepts to them despite having had the opportunity to observe it since the beginning of time. The Elderwraths possess power of such magnitude that, despite the most certain damnable fate, many mortals succumb to the temptation and cast their desires out into the lightless void. And there, such wishes are granted for a price.
Shaitan
The
Shaitan are the Dark Titans of eternal infamy. Once a great race of powers, the Shaitan turned to the Darkness Beyond in search of power and knowledge. Where once they had walled off the Coils from the Elderwraths; now it was they whose souls darkened at the primordial darkness that they touched. The Shaitan became the embodiment of dark will upon the Coils and dominated all that even contemplated of its existence for thousands of years. The Shaitan were thrown down in
Titanomachia and imprisoned in the City of Brass along with many of their followers. Now, they are barred from interfering or escaping from their eternal prison except when called upon darksouled individuals and cults. Though this truism is taught to all children, the learned and the wary know that any bond forged of power may be sundered by the same. There exist a multitude of ways to exert influence on the Coils if one has the will and the power.
The Soulless
Fettered
The Diabolics are those dark powers that swore allegiance to the
Shaitan. With the banishment and imprisonment of their dark masters, the Diabolics are also partially bound to the City of Brass. They have been organized and assimilated into the Shaitanic culture and ape the aristocratic society of their dark overlords.
Unfettered
The Unfettered are those dark forces that were too maddened, too primal to bend the knee to the
Shaitan. Unlike their brethren, the
Fettered, the
Unfettered are chaos incarnate and seek the destruction of the Mortal Coil and the tasty mortal souls within it.
Young Gods
The
Young Gods are those powers that arose, manifested or joined in the great
Titanomachia. Beings and Powers of all aspects fought together in that great ordeal with many of them falling. In the end, when the rubble and bodies were cleared away, those Powers that stayed behind to guide, assist, entrap or dominate the mortalkind were coined the
Young Gods.
The Pandeiman Lords
The Pandeiman Lords are an unknown quality that have inhabited the world since the Titanomachia. The Lords (although many of them are female) are fickle, callous, cruel, kind and everything in between depending on the encounter and their general demeanor. They can grant great power, knowledge or bestow horrible curses with equal casualness. Their origins are mysterious although many of them display emotions, desires and the pettiness of mortalkind. Of their origins, the Pandeiman Lords do not speak of it and instead lay claim to a mantle of power and obeisance since time immemorial despite being of relatively recent arrival.
