The village of Meckleby

Meckleby is a small village on the West coast of The Isle of Carrenmac, about 4 miles from The City of Keelford .

Demographics

Races

Meckleby is almost entirely human, but has a small population of Sea Dwarves and Halflings.

Employment

The most villagers work as fishermen, farmers, and lumberjacks.

Defences

There is a watchtower on the East side of the town, 300 yards off from the road. The wooden stairway up the cliff can be demolished if the dock is attacked.

Industry & Trade

What little trade there is in the village is between the villagers themselves, as most major trade is brought to The City of Keelford nearby. Most of the townsfolk are fishermen, and a few are farmers, and fish is the village's main export.

Infrastructure

There is a small docks to the west, that is mostly used for fishing boats and is built at the bottom of the cliff, with stairways to the main village. Goods are kept in man made caves in the cliff, reached by the steps. There is a boathouse in the docks, used to shelter boats in stormy weather. Going out from that same dock, There is a ferry service that travels to The City of Keelford every day at 9 o'clock, returning at 5 o'clock. There is a track going east from the village, which goes to farmsteads and the woods.

Architecture

The town is mostly made up of timber framed buildings, and many of the buildings have been added to over the years, with many extensions leaning against the main buildings and larger extensions. Most buildings have a limestone base, using stone from the surrounding cliffs. most of the buildings are fairly low, being mostly 1-2 stories.

Geography

To the west, there is a steep, limestone cliff, facing towards The City of Keelford. to the north and south, there are gentle hills covered in farmland, and a steeper, wooded hill.
