The term "Old-world" is used by the inhabitants of Yrdde to refer to the ancient peoples that thrived thousands of years before the rise of the Emperor Eternal and modern society. Remnants of this lost civilization are scattered across Yrdde in the form of ruins, artifacts, and enigmatic relics that offer glimpses into a distant past. Relics recovered from ruin sites are highly sought after by both private collectors and researchers, though in recent years the trade of old-world relics has been tightly restricted by the Empire. Exploring and scavenging old-world ruins is as dangerous as it is profitable. Strange things tend to happen in the areas around ruins, anything from unnatural localized weather phenomenon to overly aggressive wildlife living within.
