Stasis Generator

A Stasis Generator is a proprietary self-defense and security system developed by Stasis Automated Security for home and commercial use, and is capable of generating a stasis field that resists movement.
Dante sells portable stasis generator units "about this size of a mini fridge" that can be used by anyone as kinetic dampening devices. The faster an object moves the more kinetic resistance it must overcome, such that fast-moving objects such as bullets are slowed to non-lethal speeds.
Each portable device can be controlled via a Neural Interface with the owner of the unit or can be activated manually using a physical panic button, such as the one attached to Dante's tactical belt.
Stasis fields can be adjusted in their intensity, with the lower intensities being adequate to stop fast accelerating objects such as bullets, but the higher intensities only being useful for explosions and are not recommended for most cases. At higher intensities, even movements of the lungs and blood flow become restricted, making someone unaccustomed to stasis fields have difficulty breathing and may pass out before being able to reach a panic button.

History

Although Stasis Generators are marketed for use in home security and to help small business owners protect themselves from outlaws, Dante has shown it can be used for a variety of applications, including as an atomosphere containment field, and a way of using resistance training in space.   Some have proposed a device such as a "gravity field" generator that could be used to increase the gravity during exercise, but this poses a number of problems. For example, if one's cardiovascular system cannot pump blood to the brain, and the passive valve-based veins allow blood to pool in the legs, the person will pass out.   However, using Stasis training the individual can still engage in resistance training without worrying about the potential negative effects of increase gravity, if such a technology existed.
