Doctrine of Gledgast

Gledgast’s school of Vojûnic thought began to formulate during the late 1300s, once the Bright Hall and the Noble Seekers had been revived from the depths of their Weeping Era demise. Throughout that dark and dour era, the powers of Vojûn ran wild and unabated, fueling atrocities and the violent passions of power hungry warlords. Those memories lingered in the collective conscious of the Everosi- something so terrible could never be forgotten. However, this does not mean the Gledgastian Doctrine enspouses complete rejection or purging of Vojûn. The traumatic scars upon the Everosi memory engrained within leaders, particularly those of the growing Corgastorian Realm, that the power of Vojûn must be harnassed and dominated. Gledgast’s master at the time, named Ghawden of Larnac, spearheaded this philosophy of controlling that which frightened the Corgastorians most in order to defend themselves. The result is that the Gledgast Doctrine responds to fundamental concerns of security with an instatiable, desparate greed for knowledge hardened by nationalistic fervor.   In practice, Ghawden’s policy began a most peculiar practice of intense Vojûnic research within the walls of Gledgast. They determined the properties which Vojûn held, including its connection to Etayen souls and the physical manifestations which pooled and festered in dark, remote places. Nemgarotirs, or Zjolmar as the Everosi knew them, also fell within the wide sights of Gledgast. Although Gawden himself never spoke with such abominations, his agents travelled far into the heartlands of Everos- discovering shady groves and dour caves where the keen sword of Lord Galen Goldheart had missed. The strange things the Edrastocel discovered from these beings, either in combat or discussion, was compiled into a tome known as the Zjolrassils- quite literally, Nemgarotiric lessons. Those well trusted enough by Gledgast would be allowed to read the Zjolrassils and hone their abilities of Vojûn, which certainly came under cloSer scrutiny than those using Eshara. Unlike later doctrines, however, eager would-be nemeshari were   not barred from exploring Vojûn. Indeed, they were encouraged. Gawden established a system of relatively safe Vojûnic education with the intention of breeding nemeshari capable of protecting and expanding the Corgastorian domain. Beyond Gledgast, he compelled the emperors under whom he Served to expend large sums of gold and resources to support Corgastorian-aligned Vojûnic warlords on the chaotic frontier. Throught this aggressive policy of controlling Vojûn, the Corgastorian military was able to simultaneously maintain the borders while crushing aggressive tribes to the south with both Eshara and Vojûn in hand.   The ascendency of Ghawden and Gledgast’s Vojûnic policy lastest from the 1300s until the 2400s, from shortly after the foundation of the Corgastorian Empire until the Great Conflict. While the doctrine was altered and added upon during those years, the general concept of utilizing Vojûn for the good of the realm against its enemies remained. Gledgast was foremost among Everosi kingdoms of men regarding Vojûn and its practice, and they took on students of every social class and background. This was their golden age, when they were unrivaled for control and power. This was undone following the Great Conflict, when fear of Vojûn tore across the continent and the Sanctuary of Corgastor was founded to regulate and specially train students under government supervision. Gledgast began to lose its primacy, and Master Farrien of the Sanctuary saw to the demise of Ghawden’s liberal Vojûnic policy.
