Doctrine of Merehel

Amongst the nations of the Gismyr, the power of Vojûn is reviled and feared. It has loomed like a dark specter on the distant borders of their realm, threatening to destabilize and destroy the foundations of their hard-built world. Indeed, they are descended from Everosi stock who suffered such a fate during the chaotic Ascension era. It was an event in the -900s known as the Shattering, where Everosi tribes from the south and midlands were driven northward, then forced off the mainland by difficult circumstance. The Etayen and Vojûn were central to this devastation, for it was the expansion of their empire which fueled the constant wars on the continent. They hated that energy and the imbalance that it caused. Without it, they reckoned, the Etayen would not have expanded so ferociously, and thus their homes would have not been destroyed. With it, mortals go mad and pursue the butcher’s work of the Eshan, raising and crushing nations with impunity. When the Geldish kingdoms began to form in earnest during the late Awakening, around the -400s, they began to formulate their own doctrine regarding Vojûn. It is known as the Merehel School of Vojûnic thought, named after the most prominent city in the islands. Those who support it envision a world without Vojûn- missing from both military and domestic contexts. Geldish citizens are completely barred from its practice, as were foreigners on the islands. Offenders were imprisoned and often deported to Everos, while others were executed by hanging or the blade.
