During Awakening Era

In the earliest epoch of mortal existence, the spread of knowledge and technologies was negligible. The Middle Belt had not yet developed, nor was cultural intermingling common.   Mortal civilizations grew according to the means and methods available to them through their own labors and genius. During the Awakening, these revelations were few but potent. Matters of agriculture, metal-working, animal husbandry, writing, seamanship, and other developments were first revealed through the designs of cunning mortals or the wisdom of the Eshan.   This said, the diffusion of such knowledge was delayed and uneven. For example, the primitive Nevanese were the first seafarers in Qadal, for their world existed between the shores of disparate islands. The talent and craftsmenship required to construct swift craft was kept among them for centuries. Other breeds of mortality sufficed with inferior techniques of unfavorable description.   A major contribution of ancient Othos was animal husbandry, or the taming, breeding, and domestication of animals for sustainable growth.   In Everos, intelligent craftsmen discovered methods to extract and forge bronze items.   Elsewhere in Qadal, the Etayen were taught the arts of language and writing from the personal knowledge of Atûn. The script authored through those efforts was directly derived from the enigmatic Eshanic tongue, and thus the first coherent system of communication in the world. Other forms were designed by the Aemar during the Awakening, but these localized and diverse scrawlings never reached the same heights of refinement and nuance.
