People of the Inbetween Waters – Ibetenos

Qasundar’s legacy never did leave Qadal alone but continued to spawn myriad lesser turmoils. The Eshan Iberos was among numerous deities to fight in and survive the dreaded First Feud. He served first in Voryndal, beneath Omotollar, alongside Aebaster and his rebellious followers. His own motivations are unknown, but likely aligned with greater Eshanic freedoms in creation. After achieving stunning victory against the Creator, Iberos joined the masses of Eshan who created their own mortal races across Qadal and Voryndal. Unlike the others, Iberos looked toward the sea for protection, establishing his Ibetenos race in a depth where no mundane mortal harms might befall them.   Aebaster, aided by Mesian and Atûn’s Eshara so invested, attacked Iberos and murdered him in cold blood under the pretense of securing their blood-won right. It was nothing personal, but rather the pursuit of powers too great to blind with personal inhibitions.   The Ibetenos continued to dwell in their aquatic cities after the death of Iberos. Indeed, his passing went unnoticed by those mortals who carried no direction communication nor connection with the Eshan. The Alor’eshan perceived their continued presence, no matter how reserved, as a threat against the Eshanic order in Qadal. At the same time, other campaigns were conducted in the so-called “Wars of Exclusion” which raged in the centuries after the First Feud. The animosity leveled against the Ibetenos was merely the next frontier in that conflict.   Isolation caused the gradual regression of the sentinent Ibetenos race.   As the now long unseen members of the Ibetenos race emerged to the coasts of Everos and Othos, the Aemar, Odyrzid, and Daorhu who witnessed them were disturbed and frightened. They immediately despised these wretched things which emerged from the depths to assail the civilized world.   Withering in the oceans and dying upon the land, the Ibetenos race was decimated. Their civilization crumbled to ruins; the cities were abandoned to aquatine beasts, and the shoreside bastions were cast down in terrible wrath. A sorrowful minority survived for some years independently, pariahs of whatever society encountered. Yet, no race could survive in this way. All of them died with time and the living legacy of the Ibetenos people was extinguished forever.
