At the time of Corgastor's rise to prominence in Valgorod, the Aemardic peoples across the Lornesse watched with deep interest. Although the Etayen were not yet assaulting their territories, the constant battles between racial factions disturbed the political and trade patchwork of the region. A cessation of these hostilities would benefit the whole northeast of Everos, and victory for Aemarda would be further boon still. It was such that Salicad, a prominent Ghet among those smaller realms, arose. He championed the cause of Corgastor and his southwestern neighbors to his own contemporaries, and this accrued a significant following of lesser warriors. The more powerful leaders of his country, however, remained neutral and contended with their own local conflicts.
Salicad arrived in the camp of Corgastor Ghedelon and his allies in the winter of -13, after a longer-then-expected march through the later autumn weeks. He was greeted warmly, and became fast friends with those of similar mind.
