The Fading

Causes

The Fading is different from other Vojûnic diseases because it is not lethal. It begins with exposure to raw Vojûnic energy, just as with all other ailments.

Symptoms

About a week might pass without notice of any symptoms, allowing the disease precious time to spread throughout the body. After that grace period expires, the unfortunate victim is suddenly assailed with a crippling headache. This is the first major sign. Unlike some uncomfortable fever, the pain induced by the Fading can last for days without ceasing, rendering the victim bed-ridden and completely unable to operate coherently. After the headache comes a numbing of the nervous system. This is unlike the Wrath, which shares a similar symptom.

Prognosis

For the Fading, the gradual destruction of bodily senses is a permanent effect. The whole affair takes around another week, until the victim completely lacks nervous responses. In the final week, the symptoms become worse. The victim loses all visual and auditory senses, succumbing to primal fear as their entire world fades from existence with every passing hour.
