Antediluvians

The Antediluvians were a race of strange beings that existed prior to the Great Deluge. Very little is known about them, and most of that is conjecture based on myths and the few artefacts that have been found. One such myth is that of The Black Tide.
It is widely believed that they created the first elves, known as Antarians, to be their servants, and that they were great scientists and mages in search of the secrets of the universe.
Based on the few remaining Antediluvian ruins that have survived and been discovered, they were a very tall and mighty race, slightly elven in appearance. Frescos have been found that show them hunting, sporting and warring.
The largest centre of Antediluvian civilisation was said to be the gargantuan city of Areksos, which now lies sunken at the bottom of the Trench of Areksos.
Whatever the truth, they have not been seen since the Great Deluge.
