Gellan Primewater is one of the most well-known inhabitants of Saltmarsh. He is one of the town's most prominent merchants, having a large lumber and textile business that he has built up over many years.
Because Gellan is the wealthiest man in town, he garners a great deal of popular support from the many feasts, entertainments, and other diversions he supports with expenditures and donations.
He owns a large pleasure ship, The Primewater Pleasure, which can often be seen docked in the harbour of Saltmarsh.

Appearance and Mannerisms

Gellan is a well-spoken, dapper older gentleman with a neatly trimmed salt-and-pepper beard and a fancy wardrobe. He is always immaculately dressed and uses an ebon-black cane to walk, thanks to an old injury to his right leg.
Urbane, witty and charming, Gellan is a bon vivant, but greatly prizes his reputation within Saltmarsh.
Gellan could be viewed as a foppish dandy. He enjoys fine wine, good food, and the latest fashions. He is a patron of the arts and spends lavishly to support festivals. plays. and concerts.

Not only a respected member of the Saltmarsh Town Council, Gellan is also the wealthiest resident of the town. He owns a large textile and lumber business in the town.
He inherited the family business at the age of only 17, when his father sadly died at sea.
