Bunyip
A bunyip is a bizarre sea predator with a limited ability to shapeshift, emerging due to the energies of the Great Cataclysm.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A bunyip resembles a mix of a seal and a shark. It has the head and arms of a seal, a wide mouth with shark teeth, and a shark's tail. It can change its form, shrinking its teeth and gaining crocodile legs or a snake's tail.
Ecology and Habitats
Bunyips prefer to dwell near the shore, in inlets or coves, and have no preference for salt or freshwater.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Bunyips have a diet of mostly fish, which they hunt or steal from humanoid fishers by pulling them off harbors or boats.
Behaviour
Bunyips are fiercely territorial, but otherwise tend to avoid direct humanoid contact, making them very elusive.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Bunyips are solitary, and meet only to mate. Their territorial nature extends to members of their own species.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Bunyip teeth are valued roughly equally to shark teeth, and their elusive nature also means that a preserved bunyip is valuable to collectors.
Average Intelligence
Bunyips have similar intelligence to seals.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Bunyips have an extremely strong sense of smell which can detect blood, much like a shark. They can also see even in darkness.
