The Grimsa Tribe
Introduction
The Grimsa Tribe are an Æsir tribe located on the island on Grimsa. The tribe worships Odin as their patron God, a not uncommon choice for Æsir tribes. The tribe symbol used to be that of a Bear however after the Great Raid of Grismsa the Chief of the tribe at the time, Yarik Dragedræber, changed the symbol to the head of a Crimson Goregutter to celebrate the survival of the tribe.Toponymy
The name of the Grimsa tribe is dervived from one of the many pseudonyms of the God Odin, the All Father, uses when he takes form in the mortal world being Grimnir.History
Founding
Legends say that the first Grimsians where led to the island by Odin himself, guiding them in the forms of two Ravens thought to be Huginn and Muninn, Odin's legendary ravens of thought and memory respectfully. The group was led by Erik "Odinson" Dragedræber who set off from the lands of Norvegr to the east of Grimsa, Skölls say the All Father gave Erik a vision which caused him to sail off with a group of settlers towards the west. For Nine days and Nine nights the party was attacked by the waves and skies before finally making it to calmer waters, for nine weeks the group sailed until eventually they found the island. Odin had tasked Erik with killing the dragon that lived on the island and sacrfice both the dragon and his own left eyes and if he did so Odin would make sure the tribe would forever prosper, Erik did just as he was asked and became the first Chief of Grimsa and earning the title of Odinson. The Sons of Bor
In recent times the tribe of Grimsa has become a mediator of sorts between two long fueding tribes, the Járnhönd and the Vargrsker. While the original cause of the fued is unknown the afffects still affect the tribes today. The Grimsa tribe was also apart of this fued however during the reign of Vali "The White Wolf" Dragedræber of Grimsa he married Revna Logi, the daughter of Perturabo "The Iron Warrior" Logi of Járnhönd. This marriage created a ended the fued between the Grimsians and Járnhönds, together they originally allied against Vargrsker. The fued between Grimsa and Vargrsker lasted throughout Vali Dragedræber's reign and into his heir's, Yarik "The Bear of Grimsa" Dragedræber's. While on the outside it appeared the fued between Grimsa and Vargrsker was still present, the battles and hostilities started to decline after Yarik Dragedræber was incharge and after he had escaped Vargrskerian prisons. After the death of Dreki "The Impaler" Warg of Vargrsker, his heir Ivar "The Pleasant" Warg and Yarik Dragedræber made a peace treaty in the form of Yarik Dragedræber and Astrid Warg's marriage uniting the two tribes. Grimsa's blood ties to both tribes has allowed them to de-escalate the tensions between both tribes, together the three are known as the Sons of Bor after the three children of Bor Vili, Vé and Odin. These tribes celebrate many festivals and holidays together oftern celebrating on Grimsa but in recent years have experimented with celebrations on the other two islands to mixed results. The Great Raid
The Great Raid of Grimsa defined the era, the fighting took place all across the Archipelago however was most fierce on Grimsa. The raid lasted from dusk to dawn, much longer than normal raids which only last a few hours at the most. During this raid much of the village was burned to ashes and a significant chunk of the population was also killed. The raid has effected all on the island where all have been affected, some have lost husbands or wives, others fathers or mother and some sons or daughters. The tribe has still not recovered fully from the raid four years later and still cemomorate the raid to honour their fallen.
