The Windwalker

"The Windwalker is an elusive dragon, and if you ever manage to see one count your self blessed by whatever Gods you worship. In my years of searching I have only ever seen one of these beasts, I have traveled from the freezing ices of Norsk to the emerald forests of Erin to the red sands of Kemet. If you have ever seen one of these creatures in the wild you already know more then nearly anyone in the world.

Overview

The Windwalker is a rare and facsinating dragon that undergoes an amazing transfomation throughout it's life time. These dragons live in places that no human lives in, or atleast not large populations, being high mountain peaks, from what people know of they are energetic creatures that live for the thrill of life. They undergo a metamorphosis to turn from a dog like creature to become a more crocodiline creature at the end.

APPEARANCE

Egg

Windwalkers have smooth, oval-shaped eggs. They are can range from pitch black to reddish orange in color they have thin, lighter colored stripes, also some small purple dots add to the array of details on the egg.

Hatchling to Adult

When young, the fur slows the dragon down and its ankles and wing joints are wobbly and bendy. However, as it grows the Windwalker slowly loses the fur and grows more sleek, and its flying ability improves as its joints firm up.
At a young age, Windwalkers have larger eyes and ears, small horns, 5 curved claws on each foot, and small protruding saber teeth. They are covered with both fur and feathers, and are a bit of an ugly duckling. As an adolescent, the Windwalker begins to lose the fur and grow sleeker. It has not yet mastered flying, but still can carry a person and move swiftly on the ground. As an adult, the Windwalker grows a longer neck, darker scales, wickedly sharp, curved claws, and its maw now resembles that of a crocodile, with many of its teeth showing. The nose horn grows longer and its ears are smaller than when it was young.
Windwalkers form a chrysalis at the age of seventeen years and emerge in six to seven months. Once they leave this chrysalis they have lost all their fur and feathers and now become vastly more reptilian, after they become fully mature they are nearly never seen again living their lives amongst and above the clouds.

The Windwalker is able to absorb lightning from storm clouds and use it to create an electrical shield around its body. This ability can be adapted for other uses, such as detecting weather changes.
