Lobar
Magister Lobar
Lobar was born the third of 5 children to a gnome family in XX on the western shores of Inai. From a young age he was more interested in studying the creatures of Bennoria than he was in helping out with his family's store.
When he started displaying talent for the arcane arts he was given a scholarship to attend the Mage University. While there he passed the basic classes with some struggle, but as soon as they started studying more advanced spells he showed his true talent in magical theory. While many mages were able to cast spells with no issues, Lobar struggled to cast even the easiest of cantrips. However when he was able to explain theories of how the arcane threads were being used to actually cast the spell those around him were able to find easier ways to cast those spells. Those professors then waved the practical classes and gave him free reign to study under the arcane researchers. While they tried to get him to continue to study the various spells, Lobar began to study magical creatures. His research began to reveal how these creatures were able to manipulate arcane and in some cases divine magic as apart of their biology.
Then the news of New Moram spread through the world like a hurricane. The mages of the University put together a contingent to travel to New Moram to find out more about these magical crystals of Andaelite and how to obtain a steady supply of them. Lobar was selected as one of the mages to make the trip to Maezes. It was a long and difficult trip, but the mages on board were able to help the ship navigate the dangerous waters around Maezes easer than ever. For almost the entirety of the trip, Lobar sat and talked with the returning Fellfolk emissaries. By the time they arrived at the newly built dock at New Moram he was not only somewhat proficient in Felmaezin but had mastered the spell Comprehend Languages. To this day it is his one and only spell above cantrip level he can cast with any reliability.
Lobar's fascination with the Fellfolk only increased upon reaching New Moram. The fact that magic could create a new species from a mixture of all the survivors was something he had to study. When it came time for the mages of the University to return to Shiris, Lobar declined. He instead sought permission from the Clan Council to stay with the Fellfolk in New Moram on a permanent bases so he could further study the changes The Fells had brought upon them. At first the chiefs were wary, but unlike other scholars who had visited them Lobar had shown them respect, learning their language and even their ways. His reasons for studying them was also intriguing because he pointed out that whatever the magics had done to them was still ongoing because children were now being born with tails. The Chief of the Moramite Mage Clan expressed that this was actually a good plan. In the end the council gave Lobar permission to say. The mages of the university were not pleased that he chose to stay behind but there was nothing the could do to change his mind.
Once the mages left, the Mage Clan took Lobar in and to this day he remains in New Moram studying the Fellfolk and the creatures of the Fells.
